A DVD Review of When Calls the Heart: It Begins With Heart
I received When Calls the Heart: It Begins With Heart compliments of Word Films and Edify Media Inc. for my honest review. It is the first Season 3 DVD of the television series based on Janette Oke’s book series. The story begins as Hope Valley is getting ready for the big New Year’s Eve celebration and Abigail realizes someone has been stealing her food. She catches a little orphan boy named Cody taking her food to feed his sick sister, Becky. Abigail tries to keep them safe, but they get scared into running away.
Jack has the hard job of keeping Bill Avery in jail, but he has to find a way to prove he is innocent. As a previous Mountie, Bill knows what his fate is (death) if he is unable to convince Jack that he has not been counterfeiting. In the meantime, old friends of Pastor Frank’s come to town and threaten to stay. Pastor Frank does not want to relive his past and tries to convince Jesse (one of the visitors) to leave town.
I sat down excited to see what would unfold for my beloved characters in Hope Valley. The depth and heart in these episodes never ceases to amaze me. I am touched as Jack and Elizabeth begin to grow closer and Jack’s dog, Rip, feels jealous of their budding relationship. Their interactions are so real and inspired by love. It is a joy to watch the dynamics of the characters.
When Calls the Heart: It Begins With Heart is a great family film about faith, hope, and love. Faith is intertwined beautifully into the story. The portrayal of love, justice, and compassion is a true display of God through others. The people of Hope Valley are always there for each other like one big family. They are concerned about each individual in the town and go out of their way to help and serve. They definitely love thy neighbors. It is a wonderful film that can be enjoyed at any age. Are you willing to open yourself up for your neighbor?
