Seasons Buffet

Linus, my parents, and I spent last Tuesday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun Casino.  We went out to the Seasons Buffet (http://www.mohegansun.com/dining/seasons-buffet.html) for lunch.  The cost for lunch is $21.00 for adults, $11.50 for children 6-12, and children under 6 are free.  So for the four of us it totaled $63.00 plus tax.  The price includes beverages, but alcohol is available for an extra charge.

The Seasons Buffet contains the first Coca-Cola Freestyle soda system (http://www.coca-colafreestyle.com/) in any casino, with 106 flavors.  I asked for a Coke Zero, and then the server asked if I would like a flavoring in it.  She listed off seven varieties, all of which sounded delicious, but I wanted to know if sugar or calories were added with the addition of a flavoring.  Unfortunately, she couldn't answer my question with confidence, so I stuck with just a regular Coke Zero.

The buffet was enormous with an assortment of ethnic dishes.  They had fajitas, fried wontons, sushi, chicken pot pie, mussels, clams, kielbasa, carved meats, soups, salads, pasta, and of course, pizza.  I filled a plate for Linus, with the meal centered around pasta and a slice of cheese pizza (since they didn't have pepperoni).  He was so excited to dig in, but he was also getting a little tired.  Even his chocolate milk was barely touched due to his low energy level.  The slice of pizza was devoured by the time I returned with my first plate.  I even spotted some bacon macaroni and cheese during my trip and brought a little back for him.

The spinach pizza was delicious and it had nice hint of garlic.  I loved dipping my sushi into the wasabi.  The lobster bisque was creamy and warmed the soul.  I made my own fajita with a variety of fillings.  I enjoy being creative at buffets and making exactly what I want.  But my favorite part of buffets is dessert. 

They had a gorgeous layout of mini trifles, as well as cookies, cakes, and pies.  The tiny truffle filled with mousse melted so delicately in my mouth with hot coffee.  A separate line was available for ice cream cones and dishes, including a chef's special flavor and an assortment of toppings.  They even had Linus's favorite flavor, pistachio (or mint chocolate chip if it is green).  I got him pistachio ice cream in a dish with rainbow sprinkles, but since I had a cone, he was disappointed.  I tried to explain to him that the sprinkles would fall off easier in a cone, but he didn't care.

There is a 2-for-1 Monday deal going on until June 25th, but other coupons are not accepted (http://www.mohegansun.com/dining/dining-specials.html#foreveryoung).  We already had a coupon we were using, so the deal would not have been valid for us even if it was Monday.  For the regular price, it was a very enjoyable buffet with a good mixture of food choices, and enough kid-friendly options as well.
